Round 6 saw another top-of-the table clash, between WaiBOP and Central, this time down at the TSB Arena in Wellington. After a close game back in Round 2, this game was always going to be an exciting encounter.

The game was played at high intensity, with both teams determined to take the valuable points from the game. WaiBOP started the game with lots of confidence, letting the ball go and shooting with ease, to go out to a 5-0 lead. With great passages of play from both teams, the remainder of the quarter was goal for goal before a wayward pass at the end of the first quarter allowed Cental to close the gap to 3.

Quarter Score: 13-10 to WaiBOP 

The second quarter was again, closely contested.  Fine defence by both sides saw a number of intercepts and deflections taken, with the combination of Georgia Tong and Jenna O’Sullivan disrupting play in the Central shooting circle.  At the other end, the Central defence pairing of Elle Temu and Paris Lokotui were also getting hand to ball and being disruptive. Half time Score: 24-24

The third quarter saw WaiBOP make changes, bringing Lisa Mather into WD and Hannah Ridling into GK.  Riding making an immediate impact by taking the first intercept, attacking strongly outside the circle. The quarter progressed with lots of ball gained by the WaiBOP team on defence; but unfortunately this was not able to be converted into points. Three Quarter Score 37-32 to Central

The final quarter saw the introduction of Khiarna Williams into GS with Kelsey McPhee moving out to GA. Lisa Mather moved into C with Georgia Tong returning to the court at WD. The changes brought some energy and intensity to the court, and WaiBOP got themselves within 3 during the quarter. However, it was Central that kept their cool under pressure, finishing the game on top 51-42.
