Players: Taupo Netball Centre (TNC) has approximately 1500 netball players of all ages and abilities spread across around 90 teams playing at senior, secondary, intermediate, primary, & ANZ futureFerns levels.  Games are played on Saturdays and mixed indoor league games are on Thursday nights. Over summer you can play indoor mixed netball to get your netball fix.

Taupo has Y6, Y7, Y8 & U15 representative teams and U15 & U17 cluster representative teams combined with Rotorua Netball Centre. Taupo has some fantastic up and coming talent developing through the Centre which is exciting. Taupo players Te Rina Wineera and Georgia Robinson both stood out and have been identified for NWBOP Development Programmes.

Staff: Taupo has a part time Operations Manager (Angela Montgomery), who manages the Centre and assists volunteers to fulfil their roles. There are also seven Board Members who all cover a variety of volunteer roles, every Board Member also run their own junior, secondary or senior team or club. Many Board Members fill other TNC volunteer roles, assistwith reps, and futureFERNS, and many other key tasks needed to help the centre run smoothly.  These people are some of the hardest working members in Taupo Netball.

They are the only small centre in the NWBOP Zone with a paid operations manager. This enables Taupo to be highly organised and professional. Taupo take pride in having an up to date and relevant Facebook and website.

News: Taupo has completed an interior renovation and extension of their pavilion, as well as adding four new courts and outdoor shelters for spectators. These changes help maintain the centre to a high standard and accommodate more players. The next project on the agenda is a new exterior cladding to help future proof the buildings for generations to come. A proud centre, Taupo is always looking for ways to improve their facilities and provide a top level netball experience.

This year Taupo ran their festival day for junior players where all teams, volunteers, and spectators were encouraged to come dressed in their best fluoro outfits! Two parents in each team were allowed to participate in the games and it was great to see many fathers taking to the court!

History: Taupo Netball Centre has a proud history of success since being first established in 1953. In the 1950’s the sport was called ‘women’s outdoor basketball’ and was officially changed to netball in 1968.  Taupo player Louisa Wall was named in the Silver Ferns team in 1989 having been an outstanding athlete and a brilliant scholar at Taupo nui-a-Tia College. Former Silver Fern, WBOP Magic Coach, and Silver Fern Coach Noeline Taurua is another Taupo success story, moving to Taupo as a child and spending her intermediate and college years playing netball there.
