It was a pleasure to play Southern Blast in front of our whānau and friends at the Silver Fern Farms Event Centre in Te Aroha.
Every week we are faced with challenges, however the team stays positive and connected, bringing enthusiasm and a willingness to be better than the game before. This game was no exception!
We were fired up from the beginning and started strong with a 13 - 6 lead in the first quarter. Emma Stiven made her debut with a spectacular performance and the highest shooting statistics of both teams at 85%. Our midcourters Georgia, Ngawai and Reeghan, played with real grit and heart.
Blast pushed hard to come back in the third quarter, closing the gap 37 - 32. The fourth quarter was a nail-biter with 1 point the difference to us, 39-40 with 8 minutes left on the clock. We maintained our lead throughout the entire game to take the win 41 - 49.
We are very proud of the girls for taking responsibility for their own jobs on court, adjusting and adapting to the play in front of them and sticking to our structures.
