The last game of the 2019 Beko round-robin was against Northern Marvels.
Marvels started strong, and it was goal for goal for much of the first quarter with Marvels up by two goals before WBOP pulled away in the last few minutes to lead by 5 at the first quarter break.
WBOP gained momentum at the start of the second quarter before a few missed shots and loose passes allowed Marvels back into the game and to close the gap to 4 at half time.
WBOP came out strong after half time, where the connections and hard work from the first half started to show rewards. Passes where sticking, attacking movement was quick and concise, and the flow in the attack allowed some great passages of play. Khiarna Williams (GS) ably supported by Asher Grapes (GA) moved the Marvels defensive duo and opened up great space in the shooting circle.
The defensive combination of Ali Wilshier ( C), Greer Sinclair (WD), Georgie Edgecombe (GD) and Georgia Tong (GK) in the second half gained valuable turnover ball through-out the court and began to put doubt in the minds of the Marvels attacking end, where balls were sent over the base-line.
A strong run into the finals, saw the WBOP team finish their last round-robin game strong with a convincing win 70-44 over Norther Marvels.
