WBOP Zone Bench Officials Achieve New Qualifications
At the conclusion of HCNC Finals Night, we were lucky enough to see some of our Bench Officials recognised and awarded their qualifications. We are incredibly proud of the commitment and development they have demonstrated throughout the season.
Zone Award – Ava Gill
Our first award is the Zone Award, which recognises bench officials who have demonstrated the skills required to operate at Zone level and are now eligible to bench NNL games.
Our recipient is Ava Gill. Ava is a quiet achiever who, despite her youth, is already demonstrating ability beyond her years. She has worked hard to develop her skills and has shown the consistency and capability required at this level.
National Awards – Abby Bartels & Leisha Currie
Our National Award takes things another step further. To achieve this award, bench officials must demonstrate competency and achieve passes across all three areas – Timekeeping, Calling and Scoring. This recognises officials who are ready to operate at both NNL and ANZ level.
Our first National Award recipient is Abby Bartels. Abby has had the unique challenge of both playing and benching this season, which is a real testament to her ability to switch straight from being a player into bench official mode and perform at a high level.
Our second National Award recipient is Leisha Currie. Leisha's dedication and commitment have really started to show in her results this season. Her achievement across all three benching areas demonstrates the work she has put into developing her skills.
