The Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty Zone Performance Pathway squads have been restructured to align with Netball New Zealand’s High Performance Review findings.

Previously known as the Level 1 and Level 2 Squads, they will now be referred to as Age Group Squads (age as at 1 January 2020) to offer ongoing player growth and development.

The two new age group squads will be Under 16 (players born in 2004, 2005 - Year 10 and above) which will include a maximum of 60 players, and Under 18 (players born in 2002, 2003) which will include a maximum of 40 players.

Both squads will be named on Monday 16th September and will be a culmination of players scouted throughout the season across a variety of representative and school tournaments/events.

All named players will be invited to register for two zone squad days involving specialist coaching, sports science information, strength and conditioning resources and match play opportunities.

At the conclusion of the second camp in February a WBOP Zone Under 16 Squad (up to 20 players), and a WBOP Zone Under 18 Squad (up to 14 players) will be selected for further development opportunities.

School leavers who fall outside of the above criteria will be eligible to attend the WBOP Beko Squad Trials on December 1. From this a Beko Squad and an Emerging Talent Squad will be selected. Further details regarding the Beko trials and registration process will be available from 1st October and will be advertised on the zone website and Facebook page.
